The Speech / Language Pathology Department at Greek American Rehabilitation and Care Centre provides a variety of patient specific treatment programs for patients with speech / language, cognitive linguistic and swallowing disorders. Swallowing DisordersDiagnosis begins with a thorough swallowing evaluation to identify the type and severity of the problem. Treatment may include diet level modification strategies to reduce aspiration and choking and patient / family education. Speech & LanguageSpeech / Language evaluation and therapy to improve communication disorders following stroke or brain injury. A very large percentage of the people who come to the Care Centre from the hospital recuperates and returns home. Our newly renovated transitional care unit with electric beds, flat screen TVs and internet access is dedicated to make your stay as pleasant as can be. Here in a clean, relaxed and gracious atmosphere our patients receive rest, therapy and nursing attention while completing the recovery process. While you are getting well and ready to return home, there are several pleasant areas in which to relax, attend arts and crafts programs, engage in games, read a book, check your email account or surf the web, or simply enjoy the surroundings. Vacation/ Respite care at the Greek American Rehab & Care Centre provides flexible, short term care tailored to meet the needs and interests of your loved one for stays as short as a week or as long as a month or more. In addition to luxury accommodations, delicious and healthful food and a variety of activities, our professional staff will provide expert, round the clock nursing supervision, assistance and companionship. Our Admissions Director will help you coordinate the entire admissions process. Your loved one will receive the highest level of skilled nursing care and enjoy the social and therapeutic activities that preserve their independence and dignity and ensure your peace of mind. At the Greek American Rehabilitation and Care Centre we know that it is not the one with memory loss illness that suffers the most… it’s the family. So in addition to giving personal attention to the individual resident, we also focus on the family. In care giving, our staff places emphasis on those abilities that remain rather than on those which have been lost. Therefore, we respect the rights and dignity of those suffering memory loss. We have designated an entire floor which is designed to meet the social, emotional and physical needs of these special residents. The staff is trained to provide support that enables maximum independence, socialization and increased self-esteem. Add the vital ingredients of smiles, cheerfulness, encouragement and affection and you have a recipe for a very successful recovery!!! Our goals and the patient’s goals are the same. We strive to inspire and encourage each individual to rebuild and achieve their goal of maximum recovery. In many cases, the results are more than the patient ever imagined possible. The Greek American Centre works with various hospice organizations to provide comfort and compassion to terminally ill residents and their families. Hospice programs focus on the patient’s comfort rather than on the continuation of efforts to prolong life. Hospice provides an interdisciplinary team of professionals and volunteers who specialize in caring for the unique needs of the terminally ill and their families. Hospice care is a covered service under Medicare Part A and the Illinois Medicaid benefit. Most insurance companies have hospice benefits. |
